When I import an avi file it clears out any other files
already imported. Has anyone else seen this? Movie Maker

Thank you

Hopefully you're seeing what is normal... importing a video file
automatically creates a new collection and puts it in there.

You're other collections shouldn't change. But many expect the newly
imported clip to be in the collection they have selected, not in a new one.

On all of the MS demos and video, it shows multiple video
files in a single collection. How is creating a new
collection with each video import "normal"?

If you import a video file and have it do the auto clip detection, then you
have multiple video clip thumbnails in it.

Or you can easily move the clips from any collection into another one.....
drag and drop. You do that after importing to organize the material the way
you want.
