I am trying to import video that is stored on my computer as an MPEG file
into MM. When I select the file, the download progress bar appears and
counts down the seconds and percentage left. It then stops at 101% and
freezes. I'm forced to control+alt+delete to end the program. I can't find
an easy-to-use free converter either. Any ideas?

Just as an extra remark. I also have MPG files and followed the instructions on
the link provided by John:

http://www.papajohn.org/MM2-Importing-Video-MPEG2.html

Specifically, I installed the Panasonic DV Codec and VirtualDub-MPEG2.

O...M...G!!!

The conversion was as easy as it gets! Worked perfectly!

The only caveat: Make sure you select the Panasonc DV codec in VirtualDub
MPEG2 before you begin the conversion process.
