I trying to import analog video from JVC camcorder thru DV port.
Everything works fine at the beginning. I connect camera to laptop, computer
registers v. camera, starts window movie maker, asks me a couple questions
(video setting, capture method). But as soon as it finishes rewinding the
camera and changes to capture, I get an error stating that one of the devices
has been disconnected. Please reconnect and start again.
I've updated XP and camera drivers.... Any other ideas?

WMM can only capture certain formats.
You state you are attempting to import/capture *analog* via "DV port"?
Please clarify:
Are you attempting "pass thru"? Using your DV cam to "pass"/convert
an analog feed from a VHS machine? - If not, then your aim of "analog
video" via the "DV port" is not possible.
"DV port"? You do mean firewire/iLink/1394?

You are capturing to a laptop?
DV (digital) capture can be a CPU/RAM demanding process,
Is your laptop upto the task?

The details you supply do not make sense and it's not possible
to guide you without further info.
