Importing text files with long filnames

I am trying to import a textfile into a new table. The filename is
Aksim_051223_Skift.1.DB.txt selected from the Import File Dialog box. When
pressing the Import button, I get the error message (translated from
Norwegian):
"Microsoft Jet database engine can not find the object
C:\Logfiler\Aksim_051223_Skift.1.DB.txt. Please check the spelling of the
filename and path." with "Import Text Wizard" as title.

When I change the filname to Askim1.txt I have no problem with the import.

A workaround for me could be to rename the file by code before importing the
file. I will be importing some few files pr day from several location (Aksim
is only one location). But I wanted to report this problem.
 
It is all those periods in the file name. The period should only be used to
denote file extension, not part of a file name. That is why it worked when
you changed the file name.
You will have to do one of two things.
1. Get whomever is responsible for naming the files to use some other
character. I recommend an underline _
2. Rename the file prior to importing it.
