Importing tables and databases

I am using Access 2000. I try to import a table from a
different database unsuccessfully. When I try to import
from Get External Data and choose the other database the
only tables that it shows are the ones in the current
database, therefor I don't even get the option of
selecting the table I'd like to import. Additionally, I
can't open two databases in Access 2000. Each time I try
to open a new one Access first closes the one I was
working with and then opens the new one. I have read that
if I have two databases open I could just drag-and-drop
the tables from one db to the other, but as I said I
haven't been able to open two dbs at the same time.
I would greatly appreciate any kind of asnwer on this
since I've looked everywhere without success.

Thank you,

Fernando

If you are opening the database you want to import too and then selecting
Get External Data and selecting the database you want to retrieve from then
you will see the tables for that database; you will never see tables for any
other database. Is it possible that the table you think has the correct
tables is actually a mirror of the database you opened for the import?

As far as I know you can't drag and drop tables from one database to
another.

I have no problems opening two 2000 databases in fact I've had four open at
the same time. Perhaps it is the way you are trying to open the second
database.

Open the first database minimize the database. Select from the Start
Programs menu and open a new instance of Access select your second database.
Your first database still should be active, but minimized.
