importing table (...that disappears !?)

Hello
i'm trying to import a table from a previous release of an application created in access2000
I'm usign the native command "import" trough the file menu
it seems anything works until i dont' close the application where i have imported the table. When i re-open it, the table lacks again!!! ... and i need to re-import it. Why

The table could be corrupted and this is why it is not importing. What I
would try doing is creating the table structure in the new Access version
and then try to link in the other table and create an Append query to
populate the data into the new table.
