Hello all;
Since I have NO idea where to start, I'll throw this out and maybe
someone can assist. I have a HUGE list of people in an MW Word file
layout like:

first middle last address

each name has a space between that items (as shown above). What I want
to do is import these names into excell as separate fields. Currently
I past into notepad, copy and paste into Word, add tabs between the
items, then copy paste into Excel... it there an easier way? please??

lol.. I appreciate the assistance!

You could copy and paste directly into Excel.

The data should go into a single column (column A??).

then you can select the column and use Data|Text to columns and tell it that the
data is Delimited by a space.

But be prepared to clean up your data. With the variation of names and
addresses, it's rarely as simple as each field is separated by a space
character.

Some people have more than 3 names--some don't have that many.

I find it a pain to clean up this stuff.

In Word, do a Find and Replace, find the space and replace with a Tab
^t. Do a Replace All.
Copy and paste into Excel.

Open Excel
File>open
in File Types select "ALL"
Locate your file and click it
Text import wizard will show up
follow prompts using the delimiter that you need ie Space or semi colon or
what ever
play around ....... see what happens with different delimiters

best wishes
