Importing PST files

I'm trying to import an Outlook PST file from Office 2000 into Outlook 2003
(with all updates and service pack installed). When I try to import, Outlook
goes through the motions but nothing shows up in my Inbox or any other
folder. When I run scanpst it tells me that there are 475 messages in the
file and that the file contains errors. Scanpst fixes the errors but nothing
shows up when I import the fixed file. The file size is 48 MB.

The data in the file is very important and must be recovered. Can anybody
help me?
