Importing Pictures

When using the Movie Maker program, I have imported pictures from "My
Pictures" file (mostly scanned pictures). When I do, the pictures in "My
Pictures" files multiply 83 times within the file folder. This creates a
huge issue when you have about 200 pictures in a folder and it somehow copies
them all 83 times each creating thousands of duplicate pictures. When I try
to delete them as a group, it multiplies again. So I have to delete them one
at a time. What do I need to do to keep this from happening? It seems only
to multiply when I try to import them to Movie Maker.

are you by chance using the "ctrl" button to select more than one photo at a
time ?? if so, you have to be VERY careful not to slide your mouse while
clicking the photos. if you move your mouse while the button is down your
computer things you are "dragging and dropping" and since you are in the
same folder, it creates a copy of everything you have selected in that
folder.
can't tell you how many times I have had to clean out all the copies in my
mothers PC from this very problem.

That was my thought as well.
If you want to select and import ALL the images in the directory a better
approach would be to select the first one and then with your keyboard
instead of your mouse hit SHIFT+CTRL+END to select them all or with the
first image selected hold down the shift key and click the last image.
