I was using Outlook Express 5.? on Windows 98 until
recently when I decided to FDISK my drive and upgrade to
Windows 2000. I was not aware of the export utility and
all I did was locate the identities folder and address
book file and made a copy of the files on a CDROM to be
used later to bring them back to life.
When I updated to Win2000, I also upgraded to IE6.0, which
brought in Outlook Express6. I was able to restore the
addressbook file using the newly found import utility
because OE6 still uses the .wab file. However, when I
tried to import Messages, I could not find anything that
would accept the .dbx files as input.
When I selected File -> Import -> Messages, the only
choices associated with OE was "Outlook Express 4"
and "Outlook Express 6". Neither one of these would work.
Should there be an "Outlook Express 5" menu item?? Even
if there was, am I going to be able to use the .dbx files
to restore the identities and folders??
Any direction on this would be greatly appreciated!
