That's because, when you performed the export, a dialog box appeared that
told you that the export function exports to either Exchange or Office
Outlook ONLY. If Outlook was not installed on your machine then the export
did NOT export anything. If you then subsequently deleted all your emails in
OE, they are GONE unless you have a backup.

BTW,
This newsgroup is for support of Outlook
97/98/2000/2002/2003/2007 from the Office suite of products. Outlook
Express is actually a separate program despite the similar name.

For help with your OE questions, try an OE newsgroup such as
microsoft.public.windows.inetexplorer.ie6_outlookexpress (for OE 6), or
an OE help website such as http://insideOE.tomsterdam.com. If you're
accessing the Microsoft newsgroups through the MS Product Support
Services "Community Newsgroups" web interface, click
http://www.microsoft.com/communitie...px?dg=microsoft.public.outlookexpress.general
Good luck!

Actually the Outlook 6.0 was installed and it did generate a file (type =
Office Data File).
I generated the file with the export function inside the Outlook.
I just can't import it now.
Thanks for your help

I don't quite follow you. There is no such thing as Outlook 6.
If you had Outlook (part of office) installed on your computer and exported
from Outlook EXPRESS to Outlook, then the exported emails would NOT be
exported to a file, they would be exported directly into Outlook.
If Outlook (part of Office) is NOT installed on your computer, the export
function from OE does nothing. It does NOT create a file.
Please be very much more detailed and accurate as to a) what is installed on
your computer and b) what EXACTLY you did and c) what EXACTLY you are now
trying to do.

As Gordon says, there is no Outlook 6. Outlook versions are 97, 98, 2000,
2002 (XP), 2003, and 2007. If you are using Outlook Express 6 and want to
move your messages and contacts to another machine using Outlook Express 6,
or simply want to make a backup, instructions are here:
