I'm trying to find out if its possible to import a list of Outlook contacts that have been backed up on my computer in pst format.

Our system was being shut down and i was told to back-up all my contacts as they would be wiped i done this however when my system was back up and running i couldn't import my saved conacts back onto the outlook.

Does anyone know if it would be possible to recove these contacts and if so how would i go about it

Thanks

Mags

The way I do it in Outlook is go to File>Import and Export>Import from another program or file, click Next and then select Personal Folder File (.pst), and then browse to where the saved .pst file has been stored.

I did try to do this but it lets you select the Personal Folder file (.pst) from my computer that i wish to import. Then it comes up with a box saying Select the folder to import from. This gives me a selection of archive folders but none of which are contacts and i have tried to save into drafts or deleted items with the hope of moving the items once i have access to them but no joy I not sure what else to try any suggestions

Where is your saved Contacts .pst file stored on your computer? - you need to 'browse' to that location at the appropriate point and manually select it.

Are you saying you can no longer find where you stored the file? - if so then try doing a search for .pst files and try to find it - if for some reason its no longer on your system then I'm afraid thats it.

No i can find the file fine i browse select the .pst file where i have saved the contacts in my documents then click next and it comes up with another box which is headed:

Import Personal Folders

Select the folder to import from:
Archive folders
(List of all archive folders in outlook expect contacts)

Tick box: Include Subfolders Filter
Tick Box: Import Items into the current folder
Tick box: Import items into the same folder in
Drop down box listing:
Personal Folders
Archive Folder

Three options at the bottle
Back - Finish - Cancel

When i Click on Finish nothing happens

What version of Outlook are you using?

I can't understand why it isn't working - please have a look at this illustrated tutorial HERE and see if it helps you.
