Install a trial version of Outlook2007, make the old PST program its default
and then use
Windows Mail's File | Import

Can anyone tell me how to import my old messages from Outlook 2000 to Windows
Eamil? Vista will not recognize Outlook 2000 and will not let me import the
file I saved.

I have a similar problem, however I only have a .pst file saved from Outlook
2000 Contacts, which I wish to import to Vista Contacts. I saved the file
from an old PC, which I no longer have, and have saved this file onto a new
Vista laptop via a USB memory stick. Is there anyway I can now import this
data into Vista Contacts? I have seen some messages about downloading a
trial version of Outlook 2007, however as I'm not that computer literate, I'm
concerned about doing this and causing problems with Vista Mail & Contacts.
Thanks.

There is no way to directly import the contents of the pst file into
WinMail. That's why the suggestion to install the trial version.

Can't seem to find where Microsoft offer a free trial version of Outlook -
certainly not in the UK. Any suggestions?

I opened the trial version of Outlook 2007, but it's online. Don't see how
to change default to the old .pst file on my thumb drive backup. Any advice?
thanks

I downloaded the Office 2007 trial version from the microsoft website.
Everything installed except Outlook. I went to custom setup and a red x was

On that same screen where you saw the "Unavailable" message, click
"Microsoft Office Outlook" (which has the red x). This should bring up a
properties window with 4 entries, "Run from my computer", "Run All from my
computer", "Installed on first use", and "Not Available". Click "Run from
my computer", click "Continue", and follow the wizard. This will install
Outlook 2007.
