Importing old email from Outlook Express To Windows Mail

Windows mail instructions say that it automatically imports old messages from
Outlook. That is not happening. I have set up windows mail on a laptop and am
trying to get messgaes from my desktop that has outlook.
Any thoughts?

The whole message stores have to be on the same computer from which they
will be imported.
Create a folder on the laptop and name it C:\Old Mail

Copy the dbx files (all of them) from the desktop computer to the C:\Old
Mail folder on the laptop



File | Import | Messages | Microsoft Outlook Express 6
Press Next

Select "Import mail from an OE6 store directory".
Press OK

Press the Browse button
In the left window pane of the open dialog box, navigate to the C:\Old Mail
folder.
Click one time on it. Do not let anything be in the Folder: line.
Click the Open button.
The next dialog should read "C:\Old Mail"
Press Next or OK which ever it is and finish out the import.

I have done what you explain about saving old mail in folder but it does not
reconize any DXB file inside the Old Mail folder....please any suggestions

You need to include the folder called Folders.dbx in your saved message
store....
 
I had all my folders in OE listed under "local folders" instead of under
"inbox" so they were easier to access when dragging into a folder.........now
they will not move to windows mail..........I did the whole Old mail thingy
on my desktop and put them in there.......now they just sit there in the
folder cause the import does not see them for some reason.........can you
help?
 
You can drag eml files from Windows Explorer and drop them over a WinMail
folder message list to incorporate them into the folder.
