Importing old address book to XP

K

Kyle Coker

I just changed OS from Win 2000 to XP Pro. Win 2000 had
crashed and I installed XP off the CD boot. I was using
Outlook Express for e-mail under 2000. When I upgraded
everything went well but I have a blank address book and
inbox. I can't find any old .wab files so I can't import
the old address book or for that matter, unread e-mail.
Any suggestions?

Hi Kyle,

Close OE. Then go to Windows Explorer/Tools/Folder Options/View/Show Hidden
files and folders. Then do a Search for *.dbx...Open OE/File/Import. Be
sure to set search options to search hidden files, folders and system
folders. Inbox is under a hidden folder.

If the above doesn't help, run the dbx extractor:
