I have a special folder in Outlook Express, on my old computer, which I want
to import to Windows Mail in Vista. The folder contains valuable software
keys for programs which I have paid for and downloaded.

How can I safely move this folder to my new machine?

You can use the Windows Easy Transfer to backup your OE folders.
In case of backup failure make another backup. It may take a while if you
have a large number of keys but copy and paste the text of the email into a
new notepad and save each one individually as a seperate text file. I know
it may seem monotonous but they are important emails and if the OE store
transfer does fail, you have a backup in the form of simple text files.

There is a better way to save as text than opening each email.

Create a new folder in My Computer or Windows Explorer.
Open the folder.
Highlight the messages with the valuable keys.
Drag the messages to the new folder.
A copy of the messages will be saved as eml files in the new folder.

You can drag these messages into Windows Mail.

If you change the file extension to txt, you can read the messages with any
word processor program or open the txt file with a web browser.
