can anybody help me, i am trying to import music to my film, but it seems i am not able to because of microsoft windows media management, anyway around this?

Hi there,

When I first read this I had not got a clue what it was you were talking
about....but the penny just dropped.

What you have done is to turn on the Digital Rights Manager on whichever
program you use to download your software. This stops you doing all sorts of
things. You Can.

1) Try turning the Digital Rights Manager off and download the music
again....not sure if that will work.
2) Burn the music to an AUDIO CD *.CDA format and copy/rip it back to your hard
drive...please make sure that the management system is turned of, and of course
save it with a new file name.

Hi there,

thanks john, that sounds about right, i was able to do this before i sent my
pc in to fit a fire wire, last but not least, where would i be able to find
digital rights manager??????

Now that's a good question, lets have a look for a good answer :)
Windows Media Player
=================

There are two places you must visit (as far as I can tell) to disable the
Rights Manager...so here goes.....

1st Tools > Options > Privacy > Acquire Licenses Automatically For Protected
Content should be unchecked

2nd Tools > Options > Copy Music > Copy Protect Music should be unchecked

For loads more info on Digital Rights Management open the help file select the
search tab and enter "Rights Manager" without the quotes of course.

MusicMatch
=========

I was going to tell you how to turn it off...I have the latest "paid for"
version 8.2 and there is no reference to Digital Rights Management, and I am
sure that I once turned it on and off again when I realised what it was. If you
have an earlier version then Options > Update Software Please take note though
that this may not remove the Rights Management from existing music.

I can't help with any other software, I discovered MusicMatch, liked it and
stopped looking.

thanks for your time and brain john, but i heard today that maybe the firewire i had installed comes with a protection safety device, this i have to look into, i will reply with my efforts tomorrow, best regards john.m

dear john, it is with great pleasure i inform you that your info was correct and i am now able to download music to musicmaker2 at will, it was once said a little knowledge is a dangerous thing, considering i asked my IT manager in work who is on 70,ooo plus the same question and he drew a blank, he is one who could do with a little knowledge, i once again thank you and will continue to trawl this site for your name in times of need........john.m

John Kelly - The answer you gave john.m was the one I think I need since I'm having the same issue. But I still don't know how to transfer my purchased music from napster into Windows Media Player so I can then import it into Movie Maker

Can you walk me through that? I can't tell you how many hours I've searched the net, and chat rooms to try and find out how to do this. (I'm getting the same error about Digital Rights Manager not allowing me to import my .wma files)

Thanks!
