Importing Multiple Pictures at once

I am creating a slide show with 100's of photographs and
am trying to figure out a time effective way to import all
of the pictures at the same time into the presentation.
Can anyone help?? (I have tried holding doewn the shift
or control button under the import file and it still only
allows me to choose one picture at a time!!)
