I am trying to help someone import saved email (from a prior job) into
Outlook 2003. The saved messages are individual .msg files (hundreds
of them) in several folders. I need these messages imported or indexed
in Outlook such that the user can see the header information in mailbox
format, search, sort, etc. on each folder, as with all other email. My
google-fu is not finding any useful results. :-( So far my searches
have found instructions for saving files individually as .msg files or
for information on how to open .msg files individually in Outlook,
neither which meet this user's needs. (Or how to import .pst files,
but we don't have .pst files just .msg files.)
The files are currently located at:
C:\Documents and Settings\username\My Documents\Old E-Mail\Archive
Folders
C:\Documents and Settings\username\My Documents\Old E-Mail\Sent
Messages
C:\Documents and Settings\username\My Documents\Old E-Mail\Inbox
C:\Documents and Settings\username\My Documents\Old E-Mail\Stored Items
etc. Of course, it would be fine to move these files to another
location if that is what is necessary to enable outlook to import or
index them.
So, I turn to the experts here for help.
Thanks!
