Importing .mpg files

I tried importing a .mpg file into Movie Maker and it complained that the
codec wasn't installed, yet the file plays just fine in WMC.

Wouldn't the codec that WMC uses be the same codec that MM would use?

================================
Movie Maker has issues with .mpg files...
best bet is to convert them to .wmv before
importing. And...even if you manage to import
..mpg files...issues can arise when saving.

And...just because a video file plays in WMP
does not insure that it can be imported into
Movie Maker.

The following freeware can do the conversion:

(FWIW...it's always a good idea to create a System
Restore point before installing software or updates)

Format Factory
http://www.pcfreetime.com/
(FWIW...you may want to uncheck
all the boxes on the final screen)

After downloading and installing Format Factory...
open the program and choose an Output Folder...
(this is where you will find your files after they are
converted)

Drag/drop your .mpg video clips onto the
main screen...

Select 'All to WMV' / OK...

Click...Start...on the toolbar...

That should do it...

Good luck...

I found that with Windows Live Movie Maker I can drag & drop a .mpg file,
edit it, and save it as a .wmv file.

With .wtv files, I right-click, choose 'Convert to .dvr-ms', edit, and save
as a .wmv file.

All my problems are solved.

Thank guys
