Just opened MovieMaker 2 and tried to import a 24 MB DVD-ready MPEG
file. But got message "The file xxxx is an empty file." Yet it
certainly is not! Plays fine in all my players and in
VirtualDub-MPEG2. GSpot doesn't show any errors either.

Anyone have any ideas please?

Thanks John. For any others who end up googling here with a similar
problem, the first of those included this advice:

"[MPEG2 files] are widely used for digital television, DVD, and HDTV.
But they don't work well with Movie Maker and should be converted to
AVI files before importing and using as source files."

I used VirtualDub-MPEG2 to convert to AVI (enormous size) and happily
that was OK when imported to MM.
