importing mp4

I am trying to import an mp4 video into windows moviemaker but it says it not
a supported file. can anybody help please

Windows Movie Maker is not compatible with
..mp4 video files. You'll have to convert the file
into a compatible format, .wmv or .avi for example.

A Google search for Convert MP4 should yield
some possible conversion software.

I've had acceptable results using the following
trial software:
