Importing lots of clips at a time

Ok, I have a blank area for new clips, and I have checked "new project." I go
to the file where the clips are, and holding down "Ctrl," I check four clips.
Only one comes to the work area, and the rest are in the pull-down menu. I
need to see all of them. How can I make all four, or whatever number I want,
become visible icons? I have to see the scene before I know where it goes.
 
drag and drop the clips in the collections from one collection to
another.... to get all 4 in one of them, or a new one

video clips import into separate collections but from there you can easily
copy/paste or drag and drop them to wherever you want to organize them
