I have a customer importing the website I've designed and
when they import the pages from the website, all the
links get changed to local references on the hard drive.
So when updated pages are published, the links don't work.

Any ideas how to prevent this?

Cheers,

Andy

They need to open the site directly in FP on the server, and then publish it
to their computer.

To open the web on the remote server:
1. Start FP
2. File Menu | Open Web
3. Enter http://www.domainname.com
4. Enter Login Info
5. Click Ok
6. Click Open

Then to publish back to local machine:
7. File Menu | Publish Web
8. Enter location on HD, such as c:\mywebsite

Cool, thanks for that very much.

Ask they host or admin. to run a check on the extensions and/or check the
permissions on the account.

Your site does not have the FP SE
When I Enter http://www.amasuk1.co.uk/_vti_inf.html I get a file not found
Have your host reinstall them if they are supposed to be there

If they were not there, you can only download using an FTP program and will have to recreate the web design parameters (themes,
navigation, etc)

| Hi Thomas,
|
| I've tried the steps below, with
| http://www.amasuk1.co.uk, and I don't get asked for the
| login info, just get an error...
|
| The folder "http://www.amasuk1.co.uk" isn't accessible.
| The folder may be located in an unavailable location,
| protected with a password, or the filename contains a /
| or \.
|
| Any ideas why I'm not asked for login details?
|
| Cheers,
|

Hi Stefan,

Indeed, no extensions on the site, I'm a FP newbie, can't you tell ;-)

Client's host says if they install FP SE, they block ftp access by other
means, client is now going to use separate ftp software to transfer the
files, FP to edit them.

Cheers to you and Thomas.
