I have all my current in a Microsoft Works Database with fields like I have
now set up in Access. Can I import my data from Works to Access?

Hello Jim,

The best thing to do is to export the data from Works into a format
Access can import, such as CSV or dBase.

Thank You! I've saved it, but when I open the Access Database I want to
import into (I've made matching fields), the "Get External Data" button is
disabled (won't 'light up'/is 'grayed out'), even though I am authorized to
enter data and the database is open. Should I be using something different
to 'import' that data?

I'm not sure I understand what you're saying. Access doesn't usually
have a "Get External Data" button: there's a Get External Data command
on the File menu.

Try this, in Access:

1) Use the File|New menu command to create a new blank database.

2) Use the File|Get External Data command to import the csv or dbf file
you exported from Works.
