I have an excel speadsheet that I would like to import
into a Access 2000 database. The spreadsheet that has a
name field which contains a first Name, Last Name and
middle initial. There are 7983 records in this Excel
sheet, and sometimes there is no middle initial. Is there
a way to import this spreadsheet so that the first name,
last name and middle initial are seperate fields in
Access? Thanks for all the information

I have had the same problem and although it's not an ideal solution I found a way round it. I presume that there is a space between the Name Initial and Surname. So copy the column and paste into word, then highlight and under table, convert table to text, under separate text with chose comma (or whatever you fancy) then highlight again and convert text to table with the comma (or separator you chose first of all) as the separator. Then you get 3 columns, insert into excel and there you go. It's not ideal, perhaps there's an easier way, but I use it all the time when people send first name last name separated by commas, or if there's no comma I use a space as the separator and then get 2 columns that way.
