I am using Windows xp with Movie Maker ver 2.1
I used these sames videos when I was visiting my sister and on her Vista
system.
But on my system, I am having a lot of problems getting the videos into
Movie Maker. All of my videos have "mpeg" extentions, which is suppose to
be a supported file type. At first I got a message stating that I did not
have the codec. I followed the help instructions for automatically
downloading the codecs, but nothing seemed to happen. But now I am getting
this message.
"The file F:\Documents\Videos\Ava and Mommy - November 2008.mpeg cannot be
imported because the codec required to play the file is not installed on your
computer. If you have already tried to download and install the codec, close
and restart Windows Movie Maker, and then try to import the file again."
I have closed movie maker a couple of times, but am still unsuccessful at
importing my videos. In following the instructions, I went to tools in the
movie maker tool bar. Is that right or should I have been somewhere else to
try to download the codecs? Where in movie maker will I find the codecs? Is
version 2.1 the latest copy of Windows Movie Maker?
I would appreciate any help anyone can give me. I have a brand new grand
daughter and want to put my videos together to make a small DVD movie to
share with other relatives. thank you - Aurora
