Can pdf, txt or ptx files be imported into Powerpoint? The programs that are
producing the pdf files are Visionary Legal Products, the ptx file is Real
Legal, and the txt are just ascii files. I need to know if these files will
work in Powerpoint and what issues may arise from importing them.

What do you mean by "importing"? Are you trying to get their content into
PowerPoint slides, or do you just want to view the files. Your best bet
might be to link to the files so you can see them in their original
program. Alternatively, you can have a static picture of the files on
PowerPoint slides.

PTX, no.

PDF content can be copy/pasted into PPT in several ways, depending on the PDF
and what you want to end up with. For example, you can create images of each
PDF page and bring those into PPT.

TXT files can be opened or imported directly into PPT, but the results may not
be quite what you expect.

Each line of text becomes a new slide title on a new slide unless there are
leading tabs in the line. Example:

This becomes the title of a new slide
<tab>This becomes bullet one, level one
<tab><tab>This becomes bullet one, level two
<tab>Back to bullet two, level one
This is another new slide
