I am trying to set up a database from information stored in a Mac program
called "Entourage". Does anyone know anything about this program and how to
import it into Access?

Hi Mary,

As I understand it, Entourage on the Mac is roughly equivalent to
Outlook on the PC, so can store a wide variety of information which may
or may not have the consistent structure that is required by relational
databases such as Access.

The most likely approach will be to use Entourage's own export
facilities - assuming it has them - to export the data to a format
Access can import, such as text files (CSV is usually the best choice).

A further complication is that Access's text import routine may choke on
a Macintosh text file. If this happens (it's because Windows and Mac
have different standards for the linebreaks) you'll need to download one
of the many conversion utilities from the internet.

Hi Mary,

It depends upon which information you wish to use in your database.

Entourage can export contact information directly into a tab-delimited
text file, which can be imported into an Access database.

There are a lot of Entourage AppleScripts at Scriptbuilders.Net. Take a
look there and you'll probably find an AppleScript that can extract more
than just the contacts.

Once you have your data in an Access database you can retrieve it into
Mac Excel using Microsoft Query on the Mac. Here's how:
