Importing / Editting Media Player 2 Files

We're having difficulty importing media player 2 files and cutting them up;
we can import media player 1, but it does not at a good enough quality.
We've downloaded the codecs from the microsoft website, but still no good.

Is there anything we can do or any alternative software you can suggest
(i.e. media centre)

Hi Bazza,

Can you describe what you're doing a bit differently.... I' don't know what
you are referring to as media player 2 and 1 files. Do you mean DV-AVI files
saved by Movie Maker 2 and 1? and importing them into other software?
