Importing data

I've built a contact management database in Access 2000.
Reasonably simple stuff: Title, FirstName, Surname,
Address 1-5 post code, phone numbers and email addresses
etc, plus a few fields where it is possible to make
selections and a memo field to record free text

The database is populated and works fine, but....

I need to be able to import data for two reasons,
firstly new contact data ( from Excel) and secondly
current data which I can exported to Excel for a third
party to update.

I've tried the External data command and the paste
append. Neither work statisfactorily and produce lots o
errors.

I fear it is the field types which don't match. Any
suggestions

Try File/Get external date/Import and define an import
