Importing Contacts

I have just upgraded my computer, new motherboard CPU etc. and have installed
windows on a new hard disk. I have my original windows disk which I have
connected to the computer as an external hard drive. The problem is I cannot
find my address book on the old disk. I really need to access all my
contacts, saved e-mails etc. Am I looking in the wrong place? any suggestions?

And another thing how do I stop MSN Messenger from opening everytime I start
Outlook Express........ever wish you never started something !?

By helpful default, the folders where the Windows Address Book, Outlook
Express and Outlook mail stores are set as Hidden.

To view them, open Explorer, and go to Tools, Folder Options, View, and
check SHow Hidden Files and Folders. Choose Apply and OK back to the
desktop.

Now, search the Documents and Settings\<account name> structure for *.wab.
For emails, look for *.pst (outlook) or *.dbx (outlook express).

If you were using another email app, you'll need to know what its files were
called.

Agent Ransack is a *much* faster search utility. www.agentransack.com

For example, the Address Book is here on this system:
C:\Documents and Settings\<Account Name>\Application Data\Microsoft\Address

After you've turned off the Start Automatically with Windows and the
automatic sign-in in Messenger (MS Messenger and Windows Messenger) go into
Outlook Express, Tools, Options, General, and de-select "automatically log
in to windows messenger".

Thanks Patrick, I have now been able to import all my contacts. I can now see
all my saved e-mails etc and have attempted to copy them over to the new
disk, however although they are now on the new disk I still cant access them
with Outlook Express, I have even tried copying Outlook Express from the old
disk to the new one but it doesnt create the folders I had in my old version
(Saved Stuff, E-Sales, etc.) all the folders drafts etc seem empty.

You need to use OE to import them. File/Import.
