I run Windows XP as my OS and Outlook 2003 for my email service. I recently
installed a new hard drive. I am trying to import my Contacts into my
Outlook program and am experiencing problems. After going to
http://www.howto-outlook.com/Howto/backupandrestore.htm, I was able to import
the Contacts but it created a second “Contacts†icon under My Contacts and
when I go to send an email it defaults to the blank Contacts folder. I am
unable to delete the empty Contacts folder. Now what? Every time I want to
send an email, I have to open the second Contacts folder manually and copy
the email address. Any suggestions?

Either change the default folder - see the question just in front of yours,
or re-do the import, placing the new data in what is now the empty folder.

Sorry, here's how to change the default folder:
Open up your Address Book and Go to |Tools | Options |and make the change
under the Addressing Tab.

This is one of many reasons we recommend against importing as a method for
transferring Outlook Data. At this point, I don't see why you don't just
copy the contents of the subfolder into your main folder, then delete the
subfolder.
Next time either configure Outlook to use your old data file, or just open
your old file and copy from it directly. Never import.
