Importing contacts from OE into Outlook fails to sort like OE

I can do this manually for each contact...but there are 800 and this
is time-consuming.

I can set the settings and it will take effect for *NEW CONTACTS*.

However for contacts I import I cannot get them to RESORT by first
name.

Any ideas?

TIA,
Frank

You failed to post both your Outlook version and the view you want sorted.

1. OE 6 sorts the First Name, Middle, Last Name and this is what I am
used to and want when I import them into...
2. OUTLOOK 2002
Thanks,
Frank

We're getting warmer. Still need to know in which view you are trying to
sort your Contacts.

I have First Middle Last in OE 6 and have tried all the settings in
TOOLS | OPTIONS...Preferences (Contact Options) and nothing has
worked.

Settings:
First Middle Last
First Last

I import them into Outlook Contacts and it sorts them Last, First

My view is set to the default.
VIEW SUMMARY
-SORT
--Sort File As (ascending) (default)

Changed it to:
--Full Name (ascending) (no dice)
--First Name (ascending) (no dice)

TIA,
Frank

Those settings will not apply to imported Contacts. They will only apply to
newly created Contacts within Outlook.
I assume the view you are trying to sort is a Contacts Folders view?
If so, most of those sort by the File As... field. You would have to use
code to change the File As... field globally after you do the import.

***Yeah, I figured that out.

***Figures...Microsoft is notorious for making things ass-backwards.
