Importing Contacts from Excell spreadsheet

When I try to import data from excell it will not allow the data to transfer. The error I get is that it needs a "named range" in the excell file. I have tired to do this, but without success - any suggestions?
 
Before you save the worksheet, select the data you want to import, then
choose Insert | Name | Define and give it a name. Then save and import.
