I am attempting to import video clips (.avi format ) from the above camera.
When I import the clip itself, it works fine; however, when I try to play it
using "play the entire board or show" the video plays normal speed, but the
sound is played hyper speed, and sounds like Mickey Mouse. Any way to correct
this?

Hi,
Your camera saves in motion jpeg avi.
I had exactly the same problem some months ago.
For me the problem was related to an AC3 codec.

in MM2
go to tools->options [compatibility tab]
if you see an AC3 filter then uncheck it -> ok and restart MM.

If you dont see an AC3 filter you might try unchecking the filters 1 by
1, (or turn them all off as a quick fix). If you uncheck 1 by 1 then you
will need to restart MM inbetween each uncheck.

If you turn them all off and have trouble with other source you are
using, you may need to turn some back on till the problem is solved.

John Kelly ([email protected]) posts a useful discussion on
codecs regularly. The message subject is 'FAQ: #20050802 Crashes &
Hangs'. I suggest you have a read.

I hope this helps, I know how frustrating this can be.

Rob,

Thank you for that. Something to note, I'm not using MM2, I'm using the 1.1
version on my computer. Could that be the problem as well?> Thanks again for
all your help.

Hi
I used to run 1.1 without problems, but I didnt have a dvd burner at the
time, so may not have had the problem codec.

1.1 does not allow control over the use of codecs, that I know of....
You may need to do more detailed investigation as outlined in the John
Kelly FAQ.

An alternative recommended in the FAQ for MJpeg is to convert MJPEG AVI
to another AVI format (eg use Microsoft Compression Codecs or
uncompressed). There are a number of tools listed on videohelp.com
http://www.videohelp.com/tools.php?convert=AVI+to+AVI&search2=Search+

I have used stoik and virtualdub in the past with good results. (Mainly
because they're freeeeee!). Virtualdub I still use, because some of the
filters available on the net are excellent (eg deshaker... with still
cameras shaking can be a problem).

Hope this helps,

Rob
