I am able to walk through the motions to import an excel file containing
appointments (including the mapping) but after the import finishes, without
error, the imported items do not show up. I am using exchange server 2000
with offline folders.

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

If you have been using Excel files, the problem can usually be corrected by repairing the outlook.ost file.

First, locate the repair utility called SCANPST.EXE, usually found in C:\Program Files\Common Files\System\Mapi\1033\SCANPST.EXE. I found it convenient to place a shortcut to this on my desktop

Next, do a search to find the .OST file, but it is usually somewhere like C:\Documents and Settings\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook\outlook.os

Run SCANPST and browse to the outlook.ost file. You will need to select Offline Folders (*.ost) as the File Type. The utility does an 8 phase scan, reports any errors and asks if you want to repair the errors, which it seems to do quite well

Unfortunately, something in the Import/Export process seems to create errors in the outlook.ost file, so I have to do this every time the import fails

I have not had similar Import problems with Excel (.xls) or Personal Folder (.pst) files, but they have their own Import / Export issues.

The last line should have read, " have not had similar Import problems with Access (.mdb) or Personal Folder (.pst) files, but they have their own Import / Export issues.
