I am trying to copy e-mail from my computer at work (outlook) to a CD and then to my older computer at home (also outlook). I've burned them onto a CD already (into a pst. file) but when I tried to import them off the CD and onto my home computer, it told me that: the "properties for this information service must be defined prior to use" and then access was denied to the CD
I have no idea what it means or what to do.

Take your CD home. Copy the PST file to your hard drive and then remove the
Read-Only attribute (right-click, click Properties). Then, start Outlook
and click File>Open>Outlook Data File (or Personal Folders file) and browse
to the PST you just put on your hard drive. Outlook will open it.

Never import/export if you can avoid it.

Thanks! How exactly would I copy the pst. file? I tried to save the file on my desktop, but was only able to create a shortcut. When I tried to just open it from the CD, it would tell me that access is denied. It wouldn't let me click and drag, or should I be able to?

Put the CD in the CD drive. If Windows Explorer doesn't open automatically,
double-click "My Computer", then your CD drive. You should see the contents
of the CD in the Explorer window. Leave it on the screen.

Now, double-click "My Computer" again and then your Hard Drive (usually
"C"). Create a new folder, say, Outlook, and double click that. Position
it so you can see both it and your CD Explorer window at the same time.
Now, go back to the CD explorer window and click-and-drag the PST to the new
folder window. It should copy. When it's done, right-click on the copy and
select "Properties". Uncheck the "Read-Only" box. Click OK.

Open Outlook and click File>Open>Outlook Data File (or Personal Folders
File, depending on your Outlook version). Browse to the PST you just put on
your hard drive, select it, and click Open. You should now have a new
"Personal Folders" item in your Folders View. That's your old PST.
