Importing an excel table.

I can't touch the field options when I import excel spreadsheets,
using:file>get external data>import. When I get to the field options window
it acts like the only field I have is the very first field although in the
box below it has the spreadsheet displayed with seperate fields. I can't
change any settings but those of the first field. I only need to do so
because, access automatically assigns it's own data types for my fields, I
don't want it to do that. I want all my fields to import as text how do I
make that happen?? please help.

Sounds like the well known Access 2003 bug. ;-)
Afaik there is no bugfix yet available from Microsoft.
Try to import your file into a table, amend the field structure how you want
it to be.
If you need to import the file on a regular basis you should think of
importing the file to a temporary table and use an append query to append the
data to the formated table (above). - don't forget to delete old data in the
formated table before appending <g>.
