I use OE6 but because I am doing a course which uses Outlook I have
just installed Outlook 2002 from Office XP Professional and then
downloaded and installed all updates that were found. I wanted to
import my Address Book from OE6 I have used the following
instructions in Outlook
File - Import Export - Import Internet Mail and Address Books -
unchecked Mail and then proceeded to import Addresses. When
choosing what to import from it only listed OE4 or OE5 no OE6 (I
presume this is because OE6 wasn't around when Outlook 2002 was
produced) so I chose the only option available to me.
It went through the process of importing but the summary told me it
had imported none of them. It also won't allow me to add names to
Address Book individually. My feeling is it only wants me to use
Contacts but then why have a Address Book?
Lynn

Export from OE to Outlook. Outlook uses the Contacts folder for adding or amending information. There is no actual Address Book - it is a virtual view of your contacts folder for people who have an electronic address (email or fax).

Thank you for your reply, I did it the way I did as I was advised
previously that I needed to do it from Outlook for the Addresses and
OE for messages.
I had a look at Export from OE but I couldn't understand what I was
exporting to Microsoft Exchange Personal Address Book or Text File?

Actually, for Contacts, importing from Outlook is the preferred method.

Use OE5. OE5 and OE5 use the same format for their files.

The Outlook Address Book contains no data at all. It is just a view of
those enteries in your Contacts folder(s) that have electronic addresses.
You WANT the import to place the contacts from OE into your Contacts folder
in Outlook.

Ah, I always get that advice wrong. Sorry OP.
