Importing a .pst file from Outlook 2002 to Outlook 2002

I re-formatted my hard drive recently and copied my .pst file for outlook
2002 to another hard drive. When I reinstalled everything - I didn't bother
to use the import command (like a dummy) and instead just wrote over the new
..pst file by copying the old one over it.

Now when I try to delete any messages from the file I receive the following
error:
MESSAGING INTERFACE HAS ENCOUNTERED AN UNKNOWN ERROR CALL OUTLOOK IF PROBLEM
PERSISTS.

I have tried to export the data into another .pst file and import it but I
still get the error. Is there anything I can do to recover from this?

Most likely you corrupted your profile, not your PST file.
Create a new one.
Never overwrite a PST file. Nor should you import one. Read the Help files
on how to migrate data:
