I am trying to place a page of text from a MS-WORD
document into a Text-box on a slide formated for portrait
view. When the page of text is copied into the Text-box,
part of the left side of the page is always outside the
Text-box boundaries. Thus, it is impossible to edit the
text in the Text-box. HOW CAN I GET THE TEXT PAGE TO
OVERLAY AND LINE UP PROPERLY WITHIN THE TEXT-BOX OF THE
SLIDE?

I do not want to just enter the page of text as an
Object-file because I will not be able to edit the slide
to keep current the information the information it
contains.

Also, the Bullet-button on the tool bar does not seem to
work consistenty when used within a Text-box.

I thought that PowerPoint was supposed to eliminate the
need for making projection transparencies...but, I think
that may be a false claim .

The "page"? What "page"? When text is pasted into a textbox, it is then
simply text in a text box. What do you mean? Are you saying the textbox
extends outside the slide borders, or what? And if you want more help with
that, we need to know the steps you are taking to copy and paste and into
what kind of textbox (manual or placeholder). Not to mention you need to
state the version of PowerPoint you are using.

Since your description is vague, I can only imagine the textbox is extending
outside of the slide. In such a case simply drag it back onto the slide or
resize it. If you would click and drag the textbox before you paste the
text, it will keep the left and right positions and just change the hieght
of the textbox.

Why not? If it was pasted as a Word object, it certainly can be edited from
within PowerPoint.

Would you like help with that or is that just a complaint you wanted off
your chest? If you want help, we need more details of what you are observing
and what you are trying to do.

For some people it might be. If a person is not willing to learn a bit about
the software, they may need to go back to a Sharpie and transparent sheets.

Keep in mind, too, that the people here helping others are in no way
compensated for their time and do not represent Microsoft. We are here
helping others because we choose to volunteer our time and experience. We
don't need to be yelled at and it does no good to complain to us. You might
want to re-examine your tone and ask real questions with some details for us
to go on if you want help.

Or maybe you just haven't explored all the possibilities. How about
inserting a new slide, selecting the blank layout and then open Word and
copy the text in Word, then switch back to PowerPoint and go to Edit > Paste
Special > and select Paste > Microsoft Word Document Object? Now when you
double click on the text object your can edit it. Does that work for you?

There are a couple different types of text boxes in PPT. Are you working
with one of the "Click here to <whatever>" boxes or with a text box you've
added using the text tool? Or are you using the text box control from the
controls toolbox?

In the first two cases, you can move the box around easily. Click anywhere
within it then press ESC. Now you can use your arrow keys to push the
textbox to wherever you like. (There are other ways of doing it that are
more direct with the mouse, but this is easiest to explain. Let's try it
first.)
Also, the Bullet-button on the tool bar does not seem to
work consistenty when used within a Text-box.

Again, this will depend on which kind of box you're using.
