Since I recovered an .ost file and imported the
resulting .pst file into Outlook I have lost all the
attachments on the mails in my inbox.

Is there a way to recover the attachments and if so how?

Are the attachments visible in the pst-file?

No... we used exchange recovery demo program to convert
the .ost file to pst. Using Power Controls 2.0 to open
the file without importing it there are no attachments
visible.

Does this mean that the .ost file doesnt save a copy of
attachments.. just the mail itself..? Is there a way to
get the attachments from .ost to .pst?

No they arent.. I used a 3rd party program called
exchange recovery (demo version) to create the .pst file
which I then imported to Outlook 2003.

I have also used Power Controls 2.0 to open the .pst file
afterwards to see if there were attachments there and
there were none.

Question is then if the attachments are or arent saved in
the .ost file and if they are how can I extract them??

They are kept in the ost-file as well. However I'm not sure whether the demo
support the attachment recovery but the full version does.

hmmm.. are there any other ways ...Exchange tools maybe that can extract the attachments from the .ost file? I cant afford to buy the full version of that program :(

Not that I know of. But keep in mid that it's just a recovery program; you
shouldn't be needing it in the first place. Since the ost-file also is just
a copy of what's on the Exchange server why can't you resynch or restore an
Exchange back-up?

Thats a good question.. we had a server an SBS 2003 that started going dreadfully wrong after installing a SUS server.. ended up having to do a fresh install.. but only 2 days backups to restore from. Despite making the same domain and having the same clients we couldnt get the old mails back.. when working offline they were there but as soon as the user went online the mailbox was empty and nothing we tried could get them reconnected. So with a bit of fiddling around we found the old .ost files which of course are on the client computer and imported them back into the mailbox.. its just that the attachments arent included :(

Alright. Well I suggest you contact Exchagne Recovery then as handling that
product is beyond the scope of this newsgroup.

Good luck!
