Imported Full Name is Chopped in BCM/2003

I have a MSOffice/Outlook 2003 which is a "upgrade" from
Office2000.

Once I got the whole thing installed, I exported my
contacts list from my old machine and tried to bring it
into the Business Contact Manager.

It "mostly worked", but even though I have the Full Name
showing correctly, when I select a contact to send to, I
only get the SURNAME.

The HELP file seems to say, "just edit the entry and
resave", but that doesn't make any difference.

Anybody know how to "fix it"?

Seems like if you enter stuff from scratch without
importing, you get the desired response, but there doesn't
seem to be a way to fix the old data when imported.

TIA if you have an idea of what to do.

I have a related issue, also noted as a result of
importing contact info from an older Outlook version.
When I selected a recipient for a new e-mail message from
the imported contact list, my sent HTML messages were
always received in Plain Text format. I deleted a few
entries and re-created them from scratch, and those
recipients now receive my HTML message in HTML format.

However, this raised a new problem (aside from all the
work required to re-create entries). Now whenever I
click the To... button to select a message recipient, the
re-created entry names display as 'first last' in the
Select Names dialog instead of 'last, first'. Imported
entries display correctly as 'last, first', and all
entries (imported and re-created) display correctly
as 'last, first' in my Contacts folder.

Is there any way to correct this?

Does it work correctly if you open the old PST using File, Open, Outlook
Data file and copy the contacts to it?
