Imported Excel time values coming across in different formats

I'm trying to import time values in several Excel files to an Access DB. The
time cells are located in named ranges in those Excel files, and their
formats in the different files are identical. When I import them to the same
table in Access, to a text field, one time is imported as a number (0.375)
while the other file's time shows up as a time (8:00:00 AM). There are no
blank rows in the named range between the column headings and the first date.
Any ideas as to what's going on here? Thanks.

When you import the Excel data, are you letting Access decide on the field
data types? Or are you linking to the Excel data and appending into an
established Access table?

Thanks for the quick response, Jeff. I'm importing to an existing Access
table that I want to use as a stage in a load process, and all of the fields
in this table are text fields.

It's a puzzle! I wonder what would happen if you modified the Access field
data type to Date/Time?
