I imported a spreadsheet into an Access database. One of
the columns is formatted as text in both the Excel
worksheet and the Access database but almost a third of
the records showed the data in that one field as a number
in exponentiation format (example . Have to look the
record up in the excel worksheet and key in the original
value to make it appear as text. Very time consuming.
What caused this to happen and is there a way to not have
to do all of the manual lookup and correcting? Probably
expressing myself badly but would appreciate any help.
Thanks.

Unfortunately Access use the first record in excel as the
format. Either add a dummy record number 1 in excel and
delete later or import to a temporary table and append it
to you main table
