Does anyone know if this is an important file? I ran Norton Antivirus & it deleted this when it detected a trojan in it...now I'm getting the error message that Windows can't find it when I start my computer (and that I should delete reference to this in the registry)

Thanks in advance

Hi,

Norton was right, and you need to delete the reference to it in the run keys
of the registry. Start/run regedit, click edit/find and search on
monitormgt.exe, you will likely find it under one of these keys:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\RunServices
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run

Simply delete the string value containing it from the righthand pane.

By the way, what changes should I expect now that "Monitormgt.exe" is deleted from my computer? I searched the Microsoft website & couldn't find any reference to it. Should I worry?!! Thanks for your time.

Hi,

The file itself was a virus, you don't want it back.
