import wizard keeps crashing Access 2000

I try to import an Excel spreadsheet by selecting file|get external
data|import then
selecting an excel spreadsheet from disk. The hour glass shows for a sec
then nothing. Although Access seems fine, when I try to close it hangs. So I
converted the Excel spreadsheet to a csv file and try it again. Same thing.
When I convert the
spreadsheet to a dv IV type file, it works fine. Is this a bug in Access 2000?
How do I fix it? Thanks.

try moving to SQL Serverr and learn a real ETL tool like DTS or SSIS


I mean come on, Acesss MDB isn't reliable enogh for real world usage
