Import wizard error when importing excel spreadsheet

For some reason in the import wizard when I attempt to import my excel
spreadsheet and select what columns to import the column name and info won't
change when I click on the column. Now when I import the spreadsheet I end
up having to import the entire sheet with columns I don't want in the table.
How can I get this wizard to work correctly?

Why not link to the excel table and run an append query to
your table.
