when i try to import video clips ( avi, mpg etc) i get the following error
message MOV00926.AVI could not be imported. Unspecified error

running windows xp. was working fine til recently.

any suggestions / solutions

I have this Sony DVD Camcorder and used to use Pixela Imagemixer Ver 1.5 to
Import the
captures onto my Hard Drive and then edit in Moviemaker.

I now have Windows Vista Ultimate on my new computer and cannot install
Imagemixer 1.5.

Has anyone any ideas how I can import the captures. I have taken a fair
amount of footage over
the last few days and really hoped to get editing it.

Please start a new thread when you want a question answered unless it is the
same as the one you join. And as yours is Vista, it'd be best to ask
further questions in the vista newsgroup, vista.music_pictures_video

I suspect image mixer is not compatible with vista, check with Sony.

Sometime Vista and MM will work with mpeg files, so just take the disc out
and put it in the dvd drive and impiort the files direct to MM from there.
If that doesn't work copy the vob to your hard drive and then convert it to
wmv, using something like windows media encoder

I have renamed the .VOB files to .MPG files in hopes of editing in movie
maker. I also downloaded WM Encoder 9 to convert the files in a format that
WMM recognizes. You will be able to tell I am rookie by this question!!....

How do I now convert the .MPG file to .WMV or whatever I need for use in
Movie Maker?

i cant get any type of file to import. i looked at the link and can stop
trying mpeg after reading it but i cant import wmv either. always get
unspecified error. it appears my drivers are 2.1 but the application is 2.0
in the programs\movie maker file. might be the major problem there.

Maybe this link will offer something:

What can I do if I upgrade to Windows
XP SP2 and Windows Movie Maker 2.1
is not installed successfully?

And...maybe reinstalling WinXP SP2
would be worth a try:

Download Windows XP SP2

Generally, users install from the net but this
site allows you to download the complete
file to your hard drive before installing.

It's good for a network administrator because
you can burn it on a CD and install it on as
many computers as you need to.

And it's good for a single machine because
if you ever need to install it again...you'll have
it available without waiting for a download.
